Burke, Carr Earn Top Honors In CD VolleyballThomas Walker senior Lakin Burke was named Player of the Year and junior libero Makayla Carr was voted Libero of the Year recently with the Lady Pioneers racking up a slew of All-Cumberland District volleyball honors. Coach Kristen Parker was also voted Coach of the Year with her team finishing the year a perfect 12-0 in district play, including the regular season and tournament titles.  Burke tallied 274 kills, 209 digs, and 181 service points in her senior season while adding 68 blocks and 26 aces in leading a dominant Pioneer front row attack. With Burke on the front row, Carr took care of business in the back row with a whopping 257 digs on the season.  Joining the duo on the first team is sophomore hitter Patricia Bigge. Bigge collected 236 kills, 99 service points, 66 digs, 39 blocks, and 28 aces in her second varsity season. Senior setter Tenley Jackson also garnered a first team nod after completing the year with 723 assists, 132 service points, 120 digs, and 20 aces. Jackson eclipsed the 1,000 dig mark this season to become only the second player in school history to reach that plateau.  Senior Autumn Collingsworth was voted to the second team with her 190 service points, 187 kills, 106 digs, and 44 aces giving Thomas Walker a trio of solid hitters in the front row.  Juniors Karlie Jones and Raelyn Cope picked up honorable mention honors with the duo coming on strong in their first varsity season. Jones picked up 92 kills, 73 service points, 57 digs, and 14 aces.
